These last couple months, I have made some significant strides in progess towards several goals:

~ Improving my abilities as a developer ~

I have broken out of 'tutorial hell' recently by being an annoying shit at work about how I'm currently enrolled in a Development cirriculum. Bragging about how I can build websites fairly quickly with low maintenance and overhead. Still somewhat labor-intensive on my end, but I need to get my foot in the door and build my portfolio. My colleague and business partner is giving me the green-light to start building his business' (and by extension, my business) website in order to establish a professional appearance on the web without relying on invasive and overpriced software. So far, I have a pretty solid foundation. I'm currently building his site using VS Code as my primary develepment environment. I have also integrated git and public development notes in order to use good development practices with my work. You can find the public source code and dev notes HERE on GitHub.

~ Advancing in the development cirriculum ~

I am still on the final project of the CSS chapter of the cirriculum. The assignment is asking for a LOT of different, very specific tasks to complete to show how well-rounded my knowledge of CSS and HTML is. I'm required to take an image of a website and build it from scratch to match the image as close to 100% as possible. I should go ahead and finish it, I'd like to think that I'm close, but I still have to update the site to be responsive to different aspect ratio's. Doesn't seem too hard but I feel like I have to rebuild the website 3 times over. I'll set a goal for myself and wrap it up soon. I won't post it here, but all of my assignments are public on my GitHub. Just making a note of it.

~ Learning how to use a damn keyboard ~

I've made a conscious effort to use my keyboard without looking at what I'm typing. I'm not sure how I've made it this far without this ability, but it's been a huge pain in the ass that I've never tried to fix until last week. I've been writing SO MUCH SLOWER but I've developed my last 2 projects and written this entire entry without taking my eyes off the screen. It's done a lot for me to be able to keep my eyes on my work. When I'm 400 lines deep in code, the moment I take my eyes away, I have to reset and find where I was at and that can be pretty bad for momentum or chasing an idea.

~ Day-job ~

So far, we're (my colleague & I) trying to get out from under this General Contractor. They offered a pretty promising project that we're currently on, but we're closing in on the end of the project now. Without going into details, we're just now getting paid for work we did a LONG time ago and we've had a LOT of bills past due from our suppliers that we have to catch up on. Luckily, our sales reps unerstand and aren't pressuring us; being consistently past due on invoices isn't a good way to conduct business with our long-term suppliers. We will be making some changes to our contracts in the future.

~ Classic WoW 20th AV ~

Figured I'd add my MMO experience here, just because I want to. I didn't get to play WoW when I was younger, so I feel like I really missed out. MMO's and computer's have always appealed to me and it always seemed like a weird subculture I could never be a part of due to pigeon-hole-ing myself into certain career fields. Now that I'm older (not that much older, just old enough), I feel like I've never let myself be the person that can really enjoy playing an MMO and working with computer's. So I started playing WoW and working on computer's. I currently have a level 22 Warlock named Beelzebummer on Dreamscythe server. I run around with a guild, I sell overpriced green junk at the AH, and I shitpost in Barrens chat every chance I get. It's not bad.

~ CONCLUSION ~

I probably could've added more, but I don't want to spend too much time on details.

Gonna go work on something else now. Keep setting little goals and make progress on them every day.

Write about it when you can.

Get better at logging everything, but quit logging it on social media.

There's better outlets.

Take care!
